Total flickering screen out of the box
« on: August 24, 2010, 07:25:34 PM »
Oh boy I sure hope I haven't made a mistake buying this thing. It is but 10 minutes old.

I'm guessing that really really bad video tracking/refresh rate-like zooming screens is not proper functionality? I'm using the composite RGB cables, which worked just fine from my DVD player.

Looked through the (anemic) manual...no troubleshooting section...and so now I'm here (through the back door--Micca, you need to make this help forum more visible, not just your store which apparently has NO links here).

I'm downloading the firmware now but something tells me there's a major issue. What do I do to fix this?

Hi,

We didn't mean for this to be a "back door" kind of thing. Thanks for the link suggestion - we will go ahead and make a link to here from our store site.

Can you let me know which media player you have? I am certain the issue is that the box is set to the wrong output mode - once it is set to the correct mode, the image will be perfect.

It's the MPLAY-HD.

The orange light comes on and the screen starts going wild. When I tried the simple RCA video cable the picture was also bitmapped/unrecognizeable.

For anyone doing a search of this forum trying to figure out why their TV is flickering like a machine possessed:

The remote IF is not properly received by the unit so you must sit right in front of it and press the TV INPUT button. Press this about once every 5 seconds (for the TV to properly show the input) and you should eventually see the Micca menu (video RCA or component input...don't know about HD).

I'm currently seeing a curious fuzzy texture to everything which means it's not 100% solved yet but at least I can see something now...

I think Remote 2.0 is probably underway as I write this, and if it isn't it should be.
