3D video formats
« on: September 03, 2010, 12:08:46 AM »
I am considering getting a stereo head-mounted display, such as the i-Glasses 920HR. This device accepts interlaced 3D video streams for 3D viewing. Do the Micca media players support formats that will allow me to supply 3D video to these glasses or do the formats supported by the Micca players garble the interlacing?

Hi,

What format (file type and codec) do these 3D videos come in?  If it is a widely available format and is meant to be played back over a standard composite connection, then the Micca media players should handle them just fine.

We're using a Vuzix headset and found that encoding the 3D-AVI as an xvid allows us to play side-by-side 3D video on the Micca MPlay into the Vuzix very well. One problem we did encounter is a problem with speed where the MPlay appears to be playing a 30fps file too slowly (reflected both in the audio rate and video length). These files play fine using software on my laptop, but seem to play slowly on the Micca. We are trying to debug the encoding right now to find the source of the problem.

Hi,

Make sure you are using a fixed frame rate when encoding, rather than variable.
