Review of Micca M-8S speakers
« on: March 10, 2010, 07:11:18 PM »
This is my reveiw of the Micca M-8S 8-Inch 2-Way In-Wall Speakers.
I ordered two pairs, four total. The speakers arrived packaged well. With wires run, and the use of the provided template, I had no problem measuring and cutting the rectangular mounting hole.
What I liked about the mounting of the speakers were, the clever means of bolting them to the wall. Be sure to follow the instructions provided, for proper connection and mounting. Each speaker has locking arms that swivel, about ninety degrees. After the speakres are pulled out of the box, you will notice the locking arms run parallel with the speaker frame. After connecting the speaker wires and placing the speaker in the rectangular hole, each bolt is turned counter clockwise, which in turn moves the locking arms in place at ninety degrees. As the bolts are turned clockwise, pressure is produced, as if it were a number of small vises. This action presses the speaker frame tight against the wall or ceiling, with no air leakes. After the speakers were wired and mounted, it was time for a listening test.
Oh, one other thing I would like to mention: This is a 5.1 surround sound sound system. Two M-8S`s for the front left and right channels. Two M-8S`s for the rear right and left channels. The center channel speaker is an Infinity, 2 way speaker, soon to be replaced with a Micca, M-8S. Well, we can`t have a 5.1 surround sound system without a subwoofer. With the Miccca, M-8S,
I found a subwoofer not necessary, because the Micca, M-8S has extended low frequency response. 40 to 20,000 HZ, +- 3 db. That is impressive, considering the price per pair. If anyone is looking for decent, good price, in wall speakers, these baby`s are the ticket!  8)
